RM: Please tell us who you are and what inspired you to make your first RV purchase?
I'm Allison and I live with my husband Chris, two dogs, and a cat in northeast Oklahoma. We had an "RV fund" together when we first started dating almost 15 years ago. I was kind of obsessed with Road Rules on MTV, which was basically Real World in an RV, and we were always big on road trips. Then we got into tiny houses but became overwhelmed with building options, codes, regulations, etc., and we ultimately landed back on RV's.
RM: What is the meaning behind the name of your trailer, Martha Jane?
Martha Jane is the birth name of Calamity Jane, who was known for riding horses, shooting guns, and drinking whiskey in the "wild west." Calamity Jane is also a character in the Deadwood series, which we're big fans of.
RM: How did you hear about RoomMates Peel and Stick Wallpaper?
I found RoomMates Peel and Stick Wallpaper while browsing Amazon for wall covering options for our RV.
RM: Why did you decide to go with RoomMates for you RV renovations?
We decided on the RoomMates Peel and Stick Wallpaper for a couple of reasons. The reviews were really great. It was also an option that would save some weight. We have a bunch of aged pallet wood that I originally wanted to make an accent wall with, but that would've been heavy and there aren't really studs in our slide-out to support a framework.
RM: Where did you decide to hang RoomMates Peel and Stick Wallpaper in the RV?
We used the wallpaper inside our bedroom slide-out and also as an accent and shelf lining for our medicine cabinets. I also plan on using a bit of it in some of kitchen cabinets.
RM: Why did you choose the Distressed Wood Peel and Stick Wallpaper pattern for your RV?
The Distressed Wood Peel and Stock was a great substitute for the pallet wood look I was looking for. I think it looks great with the white walls and adds some dimension and warmth.
RM: What are your favorite features about this product?
I love the texture of the wallpaper and the ease of application. It's also a very forgiving pattern, so even though we'll be able to wipe it off when it's dirty, the pattern is good for hiding seams and dirt.
RM: Tell us about your installation experience.
Installation was really quick and easy. The product was easier to handle than other wallpapers I've used in the past, and MUCH easier than all of the cabinet painting I've been doing on this renovation project.
RM: What has the Distressed Wood peel and stick wallpaper done for your RV?
It adds so much warmth and visual interest! It will also save me some painting time.
RM: Do you have any tips for RV owners who would like to use peel and stick wallpaper for their RV renovations?
Yes! Make sure your wall surfaces are clean, dry, and even. The only area we had trouble with was one where the wall had uneven defects. The paper didn't stick well until we addressed that. A long metal ruler is perfect for measuring and marking the paper and you can also use it to manipulate the paper increases or under trim. Another set of hands is helpful for positioning larger pieces.
RM: Once your RV is 100% renovated, do you have plans to travel?
Our post-renovation plans are a bit up in the air. We love our RV already but it is SO heavy. We may use it more as a stationary home and build a smaller teardrop trailer for travel!
