Wall Decals Meet Wall Panels: Introducing Decorative Wall Panels

When it comes to home fashion and clothing, “pattern” has definitely been back for a while.  Out with the minimalistic black or plain look!  Hello bold colors and designs!  With such a drastic trend reversal, no wonder wallpaper is coming back strong in the hearts and minds of designers and consumers.  Indeed, wallpaper patterns are gradually popping out everywhere.  While some consumers may still be a tad hesitant about committing to having wallpaper on all four walls of a room, the idea of committing to a “feature wall” to bring a little bit of “drama” in a room has had a lot of followers. chalkboard-decorative-wall-panel

At RoomMates, we love wallpapers!  After all, our mother company, York Wallcoverings, is the oldest and largest wallpaper manufacturer in North America.  So we come with a strong and proud wallpaper background and therefore we understand what works on walls better than most conventional “wall stickers” companies.

Our new line of “Peel and Stick Decorative Panels” is the perfect marriage of everything that’s great about wallpapers and wall decals!  We took some of today’s most popular and trendiest wallpaper patterns and adapted them to a single strip of easy-to-install and totally removable and repositionable peel and stick wall decal.  This concept was originated by Estela Lugo, who had previously collaborated with RoomMates on the One Décor program of modular shelving systems and decals.

“There are a lot of companies out there that claim that peel and stick wallpapers are great looking and easy-to-hang” says Lugo.  “This couldn’t be further from the truth!  Of course, the first strip is easy to install, but if you want to have a genuine wallpaper finish, installing the second strip of wall decal against the first strip while insuring that the pattern matches perfectly without showing any unsightly seams is virtually impossible!  You really should consider genuine wallpaper which is much easier to install (because strips install wet and can slide nicely into position prior to drying.  However, our Deco Peel and Stick panels are “framed” and are not engineered so you need to perfectly match one pattern against another.  They are more like totally individual pieces of framed art that feature cool wallpaper patterns.  Of course, you can use more than one in a room but each panel goes up easily – and you do not need to attempt matching one panel against the other”.

These Peel and Stick Deco Panels can be hung vertically or horizontally.  They can be used as backsplashes or headboards.  They are as versatile as they are colorful and fun. Years ago I bought 2 boxes (?) of POPPY Wall decals. We have moved three times and each time I have taken the decals with me. Each time I have used them in different rooms and I absolutely love them. When I was putting them on the wall the other day, I stood back and looked at my wall and it dawned on me “this has become part of our family”
