Moving RoomMates Wall Decals to a New HomeSubscribe via RSS Feed
One of the coolest features of RoomMates wall decals is that they are reusable. Their long-lasting adhesive means they can be removed and re-applied over and over again. Obviously, it’s easy to move RoomMates from wall to wall, but what about house to house? Some of our customers have written us asking how to safely and easily transport RoomMates. Have you been wondering the same thing? If so, this guide should come in handy.
What you’ll need:
- Your RoomMates
- A good helper
- The original decal liner sheets or wax paper
- Rubber bands (optional)
- Cardboard tubes (optional)
Note: To safely transport your wall decals, you’ll need the liners they arrived on. If you don’t have the original liners, wax paper works just as well. If you’re reusing the original liners, make sure they are dry and free of dust or dirt prior to re-application.
1. Remove decals and apply to liners.
Carefully remove the decals from the wall. Delicate designs require additional care to avoid ripping. Apply the decals on the liner, removing any air bubbles.
Taking down a big design, or a giant wall decal with several pieces? Ask for a helping hand from a friend or family member. This way, one person can hold the liners or wax paper while the other removes the stickers, or you can work together to remove a huge design from the wall without having it fold in on itself.
2. Roll liners into tubes
To ensure the decals aren’t wrinkled or damaged during the move, we suggest rolling the liners and securing them with a rubber band. For additional protection place the rolls into a cardboard tube.
Bending the designs on the liners should not cause any wrinkling, creasing, or tearing. Even slightly creased decals will usually flatten out on the wall after a short period of time. Just be careful: if you fold your decals, or accidentally step on them, you may be left with a sharp crease that never comes out! Place your rolled up liners in a safe location away from heavy objects.
Once your RoomMates have safely reached their new home, unroll the liners and re-apply the wall decals. Make sure walls are clean and dry before hanging Roommates. You should find that they stick to the wall just as effectively as the first time you used them.
If you find that your liners were creased during the move, place them on a flat surface with a heavy (but not too heavy!) object on top, like a phone book or large plate. After a day or so, they should be flattened and ready to use.
As you can see, moving your RoomMates to a new home is a simple task, as long as you have the right equipment! Is there anything else YOU would like to know how to accomplish with RoomMates wall decals? Send us an e-mail and we just might tackle your project right here on this page.
